..i hated you, i loved you too…

I watched the recent TV adaptation of Wuthering Heights the other night; it aired in the summer, but is now on dvd. Tom Hardy plays Heathcliff, and is indeed a very hunky Heathcliff.  It took me while to get in to, but I wrenched myself in and enjoyed every minute of it! I thought both leads played the despair of being apart so perfectly. Wuthering Heights is one of my favourite books (even though it’s not the easiest of reads and it is quite dark and gloomy), the love story is so powerful – a story of pure infatuation, passion greed and lust! It’s quite rare to feel that kind of passion for someone, we all feel love and like and lust, but pure unadulterated passion for someone is hard to come by.  When and if we do feel it, its not always as enjoyable as watching it unfold on the screen in our front room, or reading it at our leisure. Passion blinds us more so than love, even making us a little a crazed! I have felt a little like Cathy in the past, but probably realistically more like Heathcliff…If you don’t have time to watch the dvd or read the book (which I highly recommend) then just listen to Kate Bush’s song, it tells the story simplistically in 3 minutes….’wuthering, wuthering, wuthering heights….’

I love the Kate Bush song, it's one of my all time favourites. Very haunting.
