Greeks and other myths

I was safely ensconced in a 6 year relationship up until mid 2007 and to be unleashed back in to the world of single life at 32 was a daunting experience.

Did I quench my desire to go off the rails or take the safest route and run and hide behind my nearest gay best friend?  I took option 2 for a while and one of our outings at this time involved visiting a psychic who enthusiastically informed me that I was going to be meeting my true love/husband in April 2009; he would have two kids, an ex, a nice car; completely adore me and he might be Greek

As you can imagine, this little prediction resulted in me (subconsciously of course) beginning the search for my future Greek husband (like you do!)

Six months later, at a school reunion, a possible candidate appeared; Saggittarian (v.important), Greek/English guy, who looked a bit like Ross Geller if you squinted.

We had a strange little relationship for a few months, he was aptly renamed ‘The Greek’ and even now most of my friends still don’t know his real name, hilariously he even grew to love his nickname!

The Greek almost had celebrity status, I think I spent more time talking about him than actually seeing him.  He did wake me from my slumber but didn’t really ignite any huge flame, this was partly due to slight lack of commitment on both sides.

That psychic had a lot to answer for, the power of suggestion is a truly amazing thing!  Predictably, the Greek affair of 2008 faded away and The Greek is now residing in Greece (funny that)!
I am still keeping an eye out for the husband (Greek or otherwise) and April 2009 has arrived.  Maybe my predicted true love is just around the corner, or not…
